Sarah Jane Goodman

This body of work focuses on the identity of twins. Being a twin myself I have always been curious about what other twins’ relationships are like; how different they are in looks and personality, how their relationships have changed while growing up and what those relationships are like now. I am particularly looking at twins in Cape Town.

While working on this project I have been in many different parts  around Cape Town and have worked with people I had never met before. My subjects come from diverse backgrounds and areas including the Southern Suburbs, UCT, Cape College, Blouberg, Table View, Khayelitsha and Muizenburg. I have been working on this project for 5 months now. I intend to contact more twins and continue to explore this subject matter in more depth.

Throughout this project I have gained confidence in photographing people. I have discovered that I have experienced many of the same situations and life changing events as these other sets of twins. It has made me appreciate even more having this  'Same but different' person in my life.
